Currently I'm Loving

If you follow my Twitter account, you’ll see that I share articles that I like or those that I think are relevant. But I love seeing what other bloggers are loving. So here we go: the first installment of my version of She is Fierce‘s Friday Favorites and The College Prepster’s On My Radar: Currently I’m Loving…(title subject to change)

  1. This tweet from the lovely Emma Watson. This pretty much sums up all my feelings about the whole Jennifer Lawrence issue. 120k favorites and 95k retweets (and growing)? Wow. So many people agreeing with this sentiment gives me hope that we can distance ourselves from our screens and try to change the world.
  2. I’m currently reading The China Study on the recommendation of my physician. I was never a chemistry person, and statistics aren’t very fun to read, but it’s nice to read a physical book when we’re surrounded by Kindles, especially about nutrition. I love the feeling of learning something new.
  3. I try to avoid the Top 40 (I am not a Miley Cyrus/One Direction generation person), but it melts my heart when celebrities use their notoriety to lend their voices to an issue. This article is just one example.
  4. The fact that I am now a writer for 2 of my favorite blogs, Honesty for Breakfast & Hello Perfect. Writing has always been something I’ve loved doing, and I see writing being a giant part of my career. The only way to get better at what you want to do is to do more of it, right?
  5. This image that forever changed the way I see Beauty and The Beast. My inner Communications major was doing a happy dance. I mean, how can you not?

What have you been loving this week? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I’m so glad you’re doing this! I love seeing articles and such that other bloggers are enjoying 🙂

And I saw that Emma Watson quote yesterday – it makes me so happy to see that there are decent people out there commenting on this! I also saw this fantastic article posted on Tumblr, with compilations of tweets from a bunch of other celebrities speaking out about it >>> http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/02/famous-women-react-to-leaked-nude-photos_n_5752608.html?ncid=edlinkushpmg00000030

I just can’t believe how disgusting it is not only that people posted these photos without these women’s permission, but also that people are basically defending them in saying things like “well don’t take the photos then.” Everyone has every right to take whatever damn photos they want, including naked photos of themselves for their own or for a partner’s enjoyment – but NOBODY has the right to exploit that, and whether or not people are condoning what was done, they are saying it isn’t AS bad as the fact that the photos exist. It’s disgusting.

    1. Thanks for sending me this article Kiersten! Great little find! 🙂 I have a similar issue with it too. You made some great points! The First Amendment of the Constitution exists for a reason. I mean, come on. We’re all entitled to some privacy, and people choose whether or not to share certain things with others. Respect that. The debate that’s going on right now disgusts me. And the exploitation…don’t even get me started.
